Antique Arts and crafts Style Cedar blanket chest with distinctive wood marquetry pattern.

Measures approx. 47 inches wide by 28 inches deep by 22" inches high.

Marquetry, as a modern craft popularized in Europe during the 16th thru 18th centuries is most commonly knife-cut and is an artistic matching of numerous small pieces of veneer to form a design or picture. The pieces are then assembled and glued to a heavier base or supporting piece. Simple geometric marquetry designs reminiscent of basketwork,tiling or trellis work, are often called 'parquetry',in reference to the similar patterning of parquet flooring.

Mamouth Temple Cabinet / Armoire. Exterior; Meticulously crafted, Probably elm wood, hand rubbed satin finish natural patina. Eight accent carvings grace the doors and sides of this cabinet. Featuring a scroll carved apron around the base. Funiture with carvings were made for prominent officials and used by eminent persons which was the style of the middle Qing Dynasty. Full length doors open to reveal two internal drawers, and a top shelf. Plenty of storage for almost anything, possibly a small car. This cabinet will require a large room. 102.0 inches H by 30.5 inches W by 63.0 inches L, doors measure 67.5 inched by 24.5 inches. Even though the size is incredible, it is is suprisingly light weight.
